I have an 8/1 FMU, I got it with no internals aside from the spring and spacer/washer deal that sits on top of the spring. I then purchased the 8/1 diaphram, disk and ring set. The instructions show the order to install the ring-spacer and diaphram but mention nothing of the spring and washer deal. SO I installed the washer/spring deal on top of the diaphram.

Anyone want to shed some light on this. I just need to get the damn 240 fired up. I'm 3/4's done wiring up 8 injectors and two fuel rails and now the AEM EMS comes out. So I'm switching over to that and selling the rest of the crap. But I need the 240 to run for a few months, hence the FMU bandaid fix. So hook a brother up...Thx.

The shop had the 8/1 diaghram on hand, but had to order the FMU, so I got the FMU seperate. When I picked up the FMU they had already removed the 12/1 diaghram that came with it. So I don't know how the internals were originally installed. ****erz...

Why didn't you like the FMU, to rich? I'll be dialing the base pressure down a tad to help that. I just need to drive the damn thing.

The Vortech FMU has no spring on top. The order is: top plate, diaphram, disk, spacer ring. The center of the bottom portion should have a dowel about 1/2" diamter and stick out slightly above the raised center portion of the FMU body.

If the four socket head cap screws have been taken out then sombody didnt follow the instructions. That portion isnt supposed to be disassembled.

If there is a spring, is it possible you have the Super FMU? I havent taken one of those apart.

Thx Ivan, I'm just gonna toss it in and see if the gauge rises with pressure.

be carefull.... dont test the FMU with car running making boost. If it doesnt work, you could break the motor. Instead, jump the fuel pump and use a mity vac (if you have the dual port option) or something to add pressure to to the top vac port of the FMU and see if you get pressure rise.

I am sure you know this but it always helps to get it out in the open for everybody to read.
