First, you really need to make sure that your motor is in good condition in the first place. Focus on that first. Check out the stickies. They're chocked full of info, because it seems like someone has been telling you that it is necessary to buy a lot more stuff than you will actually need or will be using. You got a lot to learn, and this is a great place to learn it! Welcome to Nico.

P.S.You really don't need new pulleys to boost a car, lol. That's like expecting to get a new back seat to handle the extra boost.

compression test will tell you whether or not you want to boost. But like boznuttz said, read the stickies up top and you will learn all you need about boosting a 240.

Use spell check, use grammar, use the correct words.

The things you listed as things you "no" need to be replaced actually do not. Like suggested, check the compression of the motor. If that's good, you'll need to change the oil pump, timing chain and tensioner, the main and rod bearings, all the gaskets as well as the water pump.

A rebuild kit is about $400 IIRC. Start there and you'll have a motor worth boosting.

Going KA-T because you can't afford a SR is a baaaaaddddddd decision. KA-T is no shortcut to boost as they both require the willingness to pay to play. If you wanted to go SR in the first place, keep saving that money and get a SR. If for some reason you truley decided to switch to KA-T, still save money and boost your KA-T reliability. Like I said before, and many times, IMO it takes more knowledge to make a junkyard kit work than a complete kit from a brand name kit.
