tell me what's wrong....it takes a lot of effort getting into gear especially when cold and it grinds if I don't push or pull the stick shift hard enough into gear. I'm thinkin I neeed a new clutch but I have no idea its my first car

Or try changing the transmission fluid. A lot of Z owners use Redline MT-90 Transmission Fluid, just for a suggestion.

is there excessive play in the shifter? the bushings and even the shifter support bracket are typical problems that can prevent the gears fully engaging

Could be a number of problems. I would think a hydrolic issue. Try bleeding out the clutch system real good. Also check to see if the slave is leaking at all. Lastly I would also think maybe it could be a bad pilot bearing as this would catch the input shaft and cause it to spin even when the clutch is depressed.

i had a very similar problem on one of my first Z32s. I came to find that it was my clutch master cylinder. If u double pump it will it go in gear?
