it's like 6 or 6.5... either way it won't fit a 225 unless you have some very very crazy installer. Putting a 225 on a 7" wide rim is about as "bulgy" as logically and usefully possible.

Why don't you stick to stock sizes? You can probably get away w/ a 215/50, but it will bulge a bit.

If you are trying to get more traction or whatnot, going with a better tire will serve you better than simply going w/ a cheaper wider tire.

ouch, i put on 225's yesterday cuz i went to a used tire place and thats all they had!! yikes!! so it harms the car's performance? so i should have them removed and put on 205's instead? thanks

rofl, if they are already on and not rubbing your suspension or fenderwalls, you'll be fine.

I'd personally up the tire pressure a bit because I believe your sidewall is now a lil more flexy.

Safe for what? . I'm sure you'll be fine. I just remembered seeing my friends 225's on his 7" rim and going "wtf?".

safe for daily driving, or drifting i mean, if the wheels arent meant to hold 225/50's then shouldnt i try to exchange them?

Personally, I would, yes. I'd run 205's unless I had a specific reason to do otherwise. If I wanted wider tires, I'd get wider rims first - that's just me tho.

A lot of it has to do with how much you trust the person installing your tires...

As a reference, I've seen lots of autox cars run really fatty tires (trying to fit largest tire they can on stock rims to avoid being bumped up in class); they run their cars hard and it's fine - of course, they also usually have 2 sets of rims and only run those for track for various reasons whatever they may be.

I've also seen lots of ppl run super stretched tires which aren't recommended either; works good for them for drift or fitting rims inside fenders when lowered.

205/55 would be your best bet, but like brokeas said a better tire will always help more than a wider tire, you could do a 215 too, but better tires are more important

225's are fine on 7's, but just a little wide for 6.5

225 on a 7:

i wasnt going for anything with his wheel size

it just shows how a 225 works on a 7" wide wheel

i think brokeas scared him when he was talking about why would anyone put 225's on a 7, he thought it would be too much, i showed it isnt

and i had already answered the question, i was just throwing that in there

It wasn't on a 7 I thought it would be too much, but on a 7 that is the thinnest I would go .

I do think it's a little much tho, haha - but then again, disregard my opinions as I run 225's on my 9" rim, .

i go by a 20mm range for each 1/2 inch of wheel width, ill run a 205-225 on a 7.5, 215-235 on an 8, 235-255 on a 9, etc...i run 225's on my 7.5s, my tires actually were released a few months ago in 215, i may do that next time

however most tire manufacturers are more conservative than me even, theyll go by a 225 on a 7, 245 on an 8, etc...it works but even i dont like it as much, i like square or a conservative stretch

an exception in the pic i showed, those are hoosier DOT road race slicks, they seem to look better with a wide tire narrow wheel than many street tires...probably something to do with the sidewall construction

You also showed Hoosiers on a 7. Which matters less since R-Comps like that will have stiffer sidewalls and will be less prone to rolling over.
