Well the time has come to replace my worn out inner and outer tie rods. Just took my S13 to an alignment shop today, and they couldn't align it, theres' WAYY too much playy.

Anyways, since I do plan on purchasing a set of coilovers, maybe in 3-4 months, do I need aftermarket tie rods to go along with them? I doubt the car will be seeing the track often, so should I just stick with OEM grade tie rods?

The shop I took it to is asking $350+tax. Thats for the left inner and right outer including labour and 4 wheel alignment. Also, the tie rods have a lifetime warranty, so if they wear out, they'll replace them for free + labour.

You can purchase the Tein inner/outer tie rods and ends (or Wicked Tuning which is what I am running) for half the cost, install them yourself and simply pay to have the car aligned.

No, you are not required to have adjustable tie rods to install coilovers.

IF, you require new tie rods anyways, Then do both left and right inner and rod ends. I just priced out SPL inners and ends last night and it would be about $450 for the parts and you can install then get alignment after. Yes a little more expensive, but it will last the life of your car!

IF you get coilovers you will need RUCA's for rear camber. They run about 200 a pair. Also from SPL parts OR you can go Powered By Max. There are many other brands, but they are usually more expensive.

I've honestly got no clue how to do the inners. I've done outer tie rods countless times though, how much harder are the inners?

Only hard thing about inners is getting the locking plate thing loose. Once that's off it's a piece of cake.

You don't need rucas when you get coilovers. I'm running wheels that I wouldn't be able to fit without the naturally induced camber that lowering a car produces. Sure you'll get more grip/contact patch/even tire wear when you have correct camber, but it's not that bad. By the time the inside of my tire is bald the outside won't pass inspection anyway so I'm getting the full life out of my tires.

Just get S14 OEM inners and a decent set of outers.

For OE type I suggest Moog.

It's just part of my way of life. If i have to replace it (or repair), i may as well upgrade to a better one.
