Quick question on trouble codes

Sorry if this has been asked before, but does the ECM keep trouble codes in memory after the SES light goes out?My SES came on a few days ago (first time in years BTW), and went out again the next morning. It was on for less than 24 hours. Hasn't been back yet.There was also absolutely no change in how the thing ran. Still purrs like a kitten.I'll scan it if you guys think it's worthwhile.Thanks.

The DTC and the freeze frame data will be stored until the vehicle is driven 40 times without the same malfunction recurring (except for Misfire and Fuel Injection System). For Misfire and Fuel Injection System, the DTC and freeze frame data will be stored until the vehicle is driven 80 times without the same malfunction recurring.

It can't hurt to hook it up and see what was wrong.
