Hey guyshavent posted in ages, sold my s13 a while ago after it was recovered when it was stolen

now moving on, still love nissans so im getting myself a g35im fairly comfortable with the motor, as ive worked on my friends 350z all the time

now ive been looking at auctions and lots and the internet

what main differences are there between the 2003 and the 2005 models? im interested in picking up a manual transmissioni was looking @ the 2003, since the wheels are the least favorite kind, all the more reason to change them out upon purchase

basically, what should I know before stepping into the G world from the S chassis era?

thanks guys, and hope to frequent this board more now since ill have a reason too!!!!!!!!!!

03-04 have Brembo brakes 05^ have different engine. Higher rev limit, slightly more power, different interrior, 06 have bi zenon hid's. 05^ have differnt tail lights, rear wing. Also 05^ do not have Brembo's. But they do have larger front disks.

Those are just a few off the top of my head.

Welcome over to the G side.

Pretty much all AWD said.

The general advice given is to get the newest you can afford.

The Brembo's in the years the G offered them wear pretty quick and are REALLY expensive (if you work on cars as you say, you probably know that already) Also alot of complaints on the brake dust.

05+ you get the revised REV up engine which again as AWD said more power, higher Red line. BUT, there has also been complaints with high oil consumption. I had an 05 and now an 07 and I never experienced this btw.

The interior is a step up and most of the "bugs" were worked out from previous years.

If you are planning on going beyond the basic bolt on mods...it's gonna cost you some decent $$$. The G has been pretty well tuned from factory so there'n not huge gains in power available out there unless you go FI or SC.Hope that somewaht helps.

My 04 coupe has no oil consumption problems and no oil in the valve cover spark plug chambers!

Regardless of which year, I would check into a Nissan backed extended warranty due to the cost of parts. My seat motor and AC compressor went out and were replaced under my Nissan extended warranty. This was at around 55K miles.

Yea i read up on the brembos, im looking to avoid those, having ran Endless system on my 240, i know how often pads are eaten for no reason DD'ing.

Interior is a major upgrade from my s13 so no complainsi think the 05 would be a good body to pickup for a decent price. i plan on getting it from a auction, i can keeep a look out for the oil problem... but i plan on adding a few mods, perhaps a pop charger and a nice exhaust, later down the road a stillen supercharger kit if $$ permits... im going for 6MT

what do you guys expect a 2004 to go for nowadays? my relative can get them from auctions clean title about 50k mileage anywhere from like 13k-16k depending on year and condition...

and how about that extended warranty, i never dreamt of that on my 240, nissan dealer would go broke repairing all my stuff LOL

sorry for many questions fellas, i havent been on this board in months since my 240 went missing

Are you asking what an 04 would go for as far as retail? Cause it sounds like you know the auction prices. I would check cars.com and autotrader.com to get retail prices,...then I would assume you could haggle it down a couple K from the listed price possibly.

I got a Nissan extended warranty on my 04 coupe about 1.5 years ago with 44K miles on it. Bought a 36K/36 month delux for $1,100 from my local dealer. The internet price thru our sponsor was $1,600. I did not purchase the G from this dealer either, they just give me good deals!!! I normally don't buy extended warranties cause I do most of the maintenance myself, but decided to on this one because I didn't know much of the history of the car and I thought it was a pretty good deal.

My AC compressor and driver seat motor started acting up. The charge on my ticket was $1,500. I believe that was just for the parts. I paid the $100 deductible.

And, our 2005 G Sedan that now has 36K miles on it and is still under the bumper to bumper warranty has had some issues.Tensioner had to be replaced - under warrantySES light came on three times for 'something' in the engine. It took the dealership 3 times to fix it and the last time it was in the shop for 1 sold month!!! (they actually made 1 car payment for me).So, now I'm thinking about getting an extended warranty for this one too before the bumper to bumper is up in Jan.

Are you looking for a coupe or sedan? If you're looking for a sedan, I know of a GREAT deal on one right now! It's even a rare color combo.
