Trying to pull some parts from a buddys parts car and running into a small snag. Should be easy but just not seeing it. One of my cars has a bad wheel bearing upfront and was planning on swapping over the front spindle from this parts car as an easier fix than trying to press in a new bearing. no access to a press at the moment and i need to get the car going over the weekend. I have been looking around for info and different pics out there and we still have no idea how to actually un bolt it. We see all the bolts that would need to be taken out at the back but the hub itself doesnt have the typical center nut that were used to, rather some flat looking thing with an allen key? Someone surely has removed it before, I figured info would be easy to find since this is such a popular swap for the s chassis guys but nothing conclusive.

Never been in there myself, but saw this sitting here and figured I'd toss out the online service manual, which should have those details. I checked quickly and they have an exploded view of the hub so surely further instructions:

Good Luck!

this actually does help. thanks man. Looks like the center nut is accesable from the back of the hub? Weird but at least I have some direction before I start trying to rip things off.

No problem!
Kind of what I thought, and the page does mention a further page for service instructions. I've used the OSM many times as although the tools and such often are not what we have access to, the process info is what we are after.

So just to close this thread for now, I figured everything out. Def will use the info for the future. Swapped the spindle with little resistance. Unfortunately I damaged a tie rod end in the process... Gotta be more careful with the sledge hammer next time.lol. In the end, it looks like the issue I had was with something else but the low mileage spindle is an improvement nevertheless.

For future reference, tie rods can be removed with a tool. Most mechanics call it a pickle fork. It's called a ball joint separator.

Cool. I'll look for that next time.
