Never done a compression test before, but I think I understand the general concept. And that brings me to my confusion over what the FSM (2003 Maxima - Section EM-13) says to do.

Procedure says to remove all ignition coils and remove all spark plugs. Then attach the compression gauge. Next, depress the accelerator pedal fully to keep the throttle valve wide open. Now, if this procedure is specific to my Maxima's engine, at this point the part of my intake that connects to my TB has been removed. So having the throttle valve open for this test is pointless, correct? Am I missing something here?

Thanks

Welcome to NICO.

Just looks like Nissan was too lazy to update the FSM properly. It's the exact same procedure that's listed for the 97.

Okay, thanks. I was beginning to think I knew even less about cars than I originally thought :)
