Hi,
I recently bought a front clip, came with a neo motor attatched to what looks to be a rb20det transmission (kinda got screwed i guess :frown: ) the stock 5 speed drive shaft bolts up fine. Ive been reading around and looks like the rb20 box isnt near as strong as the rb25/300zx box.

My main concern is, when the time comes, will i be able to reuse the rb20 bell housing to use a 300zx box? Or will i have to buy a rb25 bellhousing.

I know that the KA tran bolts up to the engine fine, but I am hoping that where the difference lies in the KA and rb20 trans is the bolt pattern at the back where the gear box is.

can anyone confirm this? Can a rb20 bell housing be used with a 300zx gear box?

thanks!

No. You can use the bellhousing from a 25 or 26 transmission only. 26 trannys are usually dime a dozen. I suggest you go that route...

sounds like you got a DE trans, which kinda sucks but they will hold reasonable power.

:/ Yeah no kidding. I think I'm gonna make swapping the Z32 transmission a winter project, regardless.

I have a ka24de trans on my rd20, 1st is stupid short, 2nd is so so, after that its not to bad but I have an m45 rear(3.68 I think) I lost some GET UP but I gained some more GO, I would like to see just how fast an S13 can really go, 166 confirmed right now, got the ticket(s), court fees, community service and attorney fees to prove it unfortunately.
