quick question, no sparkok, i have searched threads and know how most stuff works but just have a couple, strait to the point question that i cant really find definite answers tooits a s13 sr20det, not getting any spark.the car was running rough with kind of a miss, running rich, blowing black smoke, and fouling plugs. i could drive it for a couple hours and it would get running real bad, change the plugs and it was ok again, so i was trying to figur why it was running rich and it just quit starting, no spark at all on any cylinder. so i have a couple questionsthe ecu is currently in limp mode, so i cant pull the codes, but the car should still at least start right?if the cas is bad i souldnt be getting any spark or fuel??im getting gas, just no spark, so my cas should be good, right??i just put on a brand new z32 ignitor, have triple checked my wiring and its all correct, not the problem.the coolant temp sensor will make the car run super rich, but i should still be getting spark, right??the o2 sensor will make the car run rich, but wont keep it from getting spark, correct?i have heard to re-ground my maf on the intake manifold, will the maf completly prevent spark?i have changed out the relays with ones from a running car, no helpi also pulled my wiring harness and put a good one on, no change, no spark

thanks for taking a few to check it out. any ideas would be great, peace chad

I would check your ecu and your coilpack harness

im getting gas, just no spark, so my cas should be good, right??wrong. The cas has nothing to do with the engine getting fuel. It is there to set the ignition timing so yes check the ecu and the cas.

the coolant temp sensor will make the car run super rich, but i should still be getting spark, right?? correct if the sensor is badthe o2 sensor will make the car run rich, but wont keep it from getting spark, correct? correcti have heard to re-ground my maf on the intake manifold, will the maf completly prevent spark? no it won't prevent spark

thanks man, that helps alot. i wish i could remember where i read the cas will prevent fuel so i could go straiten that out for other people.so if its bad i wont get any spark at all, and if its just set wrong i should still get spark, just not at the correct time. right?? (but the car was running good and i havent even touched it, so it shouldnt be off).so im gona check my cas tomarrow, and how do i check my ecu?? i have taken the cover off and everything looks kosher inside, so i think it should be fine. peacechad

well i was just searching on testing and replacing the cas, and i found 2 posts saying that if your cas is bad your injectors wont get a pulse, therefore wont work. im gona test mine tomarrow and if it tests bad im gona try to get somebody to let me take theirs off and put it on my car.will keep posted.

alright, i went out this morning and did the test i found for the cas, this is what i did.

CAS: With the key in the "ON" position and the CAS still connected, check voltage between wire #1 and a ground and then #2 and a ground. While checking the voltage turn the CAS by hand and you will notice that the voltage will/should fluctuate anywhere from 0.1volts to 5volts.

mine checked out fine, i think. it went to like 5.21volts instead of just 5, so i think my cas is good. i dont think theres much more it can be. the ecu is about all thats left that it could be. ignitor-brand new, cas-tested good, switched relays-no change-so there fine, even swaped the wiring harness-no change, so im assuming it must be fine. plugs are brand new, ngk, bkr6e's. i dont think all the coilpacks would go out at the same time. lookin more and more like my ECU is whats wrong, guess ill try a different one, but mine is tuned to the engine, it came with the front clip, and has a MIND RACING sticker on it.i dont have any idea whats been done to it, but im pretty sure it isnt stock.i also read in one place that when your checking codes if the red light just comes on and stays on, your ecu is bad. but i have read in several places that just means its in limp mode because there is a problem somewhereany help or suggestions or previous experience with anything like this would be greatly appreciated. thankspeacechad

anybody got any ideas for me??
