I'm getting my valves changed to use some r134a instead of the r12 that originally came with the car, and one place says I have to change the oil in the compressor, the other place says its not necessary...

Anybody know if the 300zx compressors are prone to failure due to lubrification or whether its just the clutch that is usually weak on them?

Only has about 100,000 miles on it.

Need an answer relatively quickly since i'm going to go after work.

Compressor failure isn't common so you should be ok.

Ok so I went to get it checked out and I have a leak down near the compressor ;0

aye, anybody know where it could be? the put some fluorescent stuff in it to check where the leaking fluid is, but the engine bay is too tight for them to see much.

Any known common leaks down there?
