Not a stupid question, and I hope this won't be a stupid answer.

1) Your motor is OBD2, s13 is OBD1. Some early s13's had 9.1:1 compression, but this was quickly changed to 8.6:1, which is what you have.

2) You have a different intake manifold than the s13 (obviously). It is still sequential injection, though. 134hp for your truck vs 140 s13. Supposedly the high compression s13 had 150hp.

3) You have the distributor with the internal coil. Earlier ka-e had external coils that could be replaced with MSD. Don't worry, our stockers are plenty.

4) The truck block does not have a one piece main bearing girdle, but 5 seperate caps. Don't worry, I have NEVER heard of a crank getting thrown out of the block, and I would turbo a truck block anyday.

5) Truck motor is cast in Mexico, and is not weaker than the Japanese s13 ka-e's. I have heard rumors that the mexican internals are cast, but this is false. Same stock shot peened forged steel rods and forged steel crankshaft as s13.

6)
