Tried searching this but couldnt find the answer to my specific question.

For those of you who bring your car into the dealer to perform the oil change, if i wanted a specific oil put in the car would i be able to bring it in and tell them to use that? Or will they just use their own regardless? Im just a believer of putting top grade fluids in my car...gas, fuel etc. it just gives me a good state of mind. I know most people say the car doesnt need premium gas or top grade oil but i like to do it anyway, just something im anal about i guess. Im a strong believer in that old saying "if you take car of your car it will take care of you"

I would do the change myself but i dont have the time and also i like having all my work done on my coupe there so i get records of them performing service if an issue ever arose later down the road and they blame me for not doing regular maintenance on it (this happened with my last car, everything was performed on time but not by a nissan dealer and they gave me s*** for it.)

Most dealerships give you an option of oil grades. But I'm not sure why don't you do it yourself. For under $30, you can pick up a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 5W20 at walmart and a oil filter from the dealer and do it yourself and save yourself the labor rate.

I use amsoil, it's the best motor oil in my mind. if you use their synthetic filter you dont need to worry about another oil change for at least 20K. i havent changed my oil for 8K and it still looks good to go. all for 100 bucks, cant be beat in my mind.

Call up your dealership, ask.

I use Castrol German 0W-30 Synthec on my 3.5SE, DIY every 3 months or 7k/KM. I didn't switch to Synthetic so I can extend my oil changes but for added protection.

If you are worried about Warranty and want to DIY, just save the receipts. It will vary, my last coupe Acura never ask for any receipts or if/how maintenance was done.

$19.95, thats with 5W30 castrol synthetic and engine additive (which maintains lifetime warranty on the engine  ). cant beat that, first car I've ever paid to have oil changes on, but considering I keep cars for over of 10yrs, its well worth the 30mins I sit at the dealership lobby waiting.

I do mine in the parking garage and most of my work there. There's always someone that has questions but that's when I get to feel full of myself :D. LOL
