So I don't have the tools and time to paint my calipers. Does anyone know where I could get this done and how much it should cost me? I was thinking of getting the calipers painted the same time I get my new wheels put on. Any ideas?

Cheers,Kevin

I'm sure you could find an hour to do it yourself. It's not very hard, all you'll need to do is remove your wheel and paint. Dupli Color sells a brake caliper paint kit which comes with all the necessary stuff to do it right. I'm sure if you took it somewhere, they'd charge you an arm and a leg to do that simple job.

Yea took me about 3-4 hours to do it myself. I didn't use the duplicolor kit since i wanted burnt orange calipers. They didn't turn out burnt orange, but they match my turn signals so I'm not 100% sure i'll keep it that way. But I went to Carquests paint shop and had them mix the paint. I told them that it was for my brake calipers and was told the paint i was given will be fine for such an application. That was 2 weeks ago and my cars been too dirty to take a picture of.

the dupli color paint looks like crap in my opinion. is you want a really flat colored caliper be my guest, but i would recommend doing like windex did and going and getting paint that will withstand high heat and picking your own high gloss color. calipers look lame when they have that flat look to them. just my opinion

Why would you want to stand out and attract attention? To each own, I guess.

I figure most who paint their Calipers because they don't like the look of Rust. I would stick to Flat Black. I'm doing it come Spring.

DIY, is very easy. It takes long because it depends how many coats you apply. You can also inspect your Brake Pads while your at it.

if you've ever seen porsche break calipers you'll know what i mean. they don't stand out rediculously, but they look perfect with the slightly glossy finish. now, if you were to go with the yellow or red flat dupli color caliper paint and you get alot of grease or break dust on them you'll never be able to get them clean again without re-painting.

My dupli-color kit has a gloss effects and it came out good with 4 coats. So I'm not sure which dupli-color paint your talking about. Seems like the more coats you do, its more glossy looking.

Ahhh....I might just do it myself although I'm kinda reluctant since I have no tools. Maybe I can just pay to borrow my friend's shops lift. Shrug. Windex, those calipers are pretty hot. Looks like that sunburnt orange or whatever. I think I'm gonna go with red.

Yea defiantly don't rush. Pick a day where you have NOTHING to do. and start early morning. Also for some reason my friends hydralic jack couldn't jack up the back of the car. Shrug. But yea Cleaned the calipers, put a coat of clear, 2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear. The back calipers only have one coat of paint and one coat of clear. I recommend just jacking the car on stands (or lift) and take all 4 tires off at the same time. That way you have something to do while waiting to put on extra coats of paint/clear. Just some friendly advice.

I put in a request on group-sales pricing to the G2 guy on ebay... ill let you know the results... and the difference btwn 15 and 35 bucks is 20 bucks.. the amount of time to do it again if its crappy paint... well worth buying the right stuff..
