im planning on using t25 or t28 turbo for my car but i just wanna ask if i could install all the parts to turbo my s14 without pulling out the motor. because it seems like everybody are pulling out the engine to install a turbo even if they are enot replacing the internals.. i dont have enough tools to pull out the engine so im asking.

It can be done. Just think about EVERYTHING that you're going to do and then sort of plan it out. Make sure you have a flat driveway or a garage with plenty of room. You'll need to be able to get under your car for the oil return stuff and even the down pipe stuff. Yes, it may be easier to have the motor out while you do all this but, think of all the steps you have to go through to take the motor out...

Also, be sure to have a good metric socket set, some vise grips and tons of patience.

The only extra tool you need is a cherry picker to take out an engine. Its going to take more sockets and stuff to put on the turbo than take the engine out.

Main reaosn why people pull the engine is to remove emissions, oil pan, and do clutch swap.Oil pan takes a little over an hour to get off welded and put back on. I've done 3 ka-t's none have been done with pulling engine. Granted each one the stock cluthc only lasted 2days,2weeks, and 6months...

Yes, by far the worst of it is pulling off the oil pan if you leave the engine in. I know from experience hah.

You dont need to pull the engine at all its not really that bad.

The EGR might give you some problems, but i think its doable with the intake manifold on.

For your oil pan this is the easiest way to remove it IMO, check out this thread.

It really depends on what all you are going to do.Are you going to put on a top mount or bottom mount?I went bottom mount, I think it would have been a super pita to do it with the engine in the car. With the oil lines and coolant lines, it was way easier to me to pull the engine. If you don't have an engine hoist, check to see if you can rent one or borrow one. Personally I would pull it just for the fact that it's not a big deal to pull it and you can get to everything so much easier. But good luck, whatever you decide,

thanks for the reply guys. i can get access to an engine hoist but i am just afraid of all the things that i am going to remove before pulling the engine because i might mess something up. is there any write up on how to remove the engine?

well hold on, pulling the engine is totally unnecessary IMO. I didn't pull my engine and I did the clutch and the oil drain myself and it was pretty hard, but definitely doable man. Shoot, if I was going to pull the engine to install a turbo, I would just do the rebuild with forged internals. You don't want to pull your engine in and out if you don't have to.
