I am going to paint my engine cover tomorrow but since I do not have a garage (apt living) I will be doing it at my dads. My question is; is it alright to drive around a lot without the engine cover? I know it's probably fine I was just a little worried about the heat under the hood....?

Also, my A/C is black so I am looking into getting the tail lights tinted/painted. I have a friend that works at a tinting place so he can do it pretty cheap but I also like how nice painted tails come out. I am going for them to look a little darker than smoked tails. If I go the tinting route what percent should I get? I have 20% on all windows. Should I have him cut a circle out for the reverse light also or one solid wrap?

Thanks

It will cause no harm, engine covers are purely cosmetic

gtr style (circles cut out for the brake light/reverse light), 20% tint. don't paint it, it's much easier to remove tints if you don't like it or want to change of the look of your car later than it is to remove paint

Some people have the reverse cut outs and others don't. Idk if it's illegal everywhere but in some places you can get pulled over if they're not cut out.

Cosmetic, remove it and wash it from time to time

Also spray it with that plastic chemical to make it shine

Well I took the plunge and had the tails tinted 20%. I had holes cut out around the reverse lights...It looks sweet and I'm very pleased. I also had tint applied to the headlights. It followed the chrome curve inside the headlight and didnt cover the actual headlights themselves....very pleased.

Good idea. Many have done similar tint jobs due to the overall hate for the weird orange splash in the headlight
