So I am rigging up some switches for my electric fans (finally). Anyways, I got the lower radiator hose temp sensor from 89-90 240's and I was wonder what temperature operate at? Also, do I place it on the upper radiator hose or the lower? I assume upper, but I would not bet my car's life on it.

It should work when the temp reaches between 198 and 208 degrees. It should be placed in the lower hose since that's where the water should be hottest

IIRC the hottest hose is the top. Comes out of the engine on top hose then flows down the rad, to the lower hose.

But maybe I'm losing my mind these days.

It does go the way you say, but the temp switch he's mentioning is a lower rad hose switch. I've placed them on both upper and lower, and to be honest it hasn't made a huge difference. The only time your car should heat up enough for the e-fan to kick on is when you're sitting still, or flogging the car.

Thanks for the responses. You just gave me an idea for how to setup my fan relays. I could have the lower hose with a low range temp switch (170-180F) controlling the first fan and the upper hose with a high range temp switch (190-200) controlling the second. I could also wire up the second to kick on when I turn on my AC.
