So i haven't really posted on here in a while. I go to school full time and work monday-friday everynight.
But it's almost spring time, which means its almost time to take the s14 out. My question though, has anyone ever bought brakes (pads and rotors) off of ebay? i tried searching but couldnt find any information on it. And if you have how were they?

Had some slotted and X-drilled rotors from ebay on my Talon and they held up for the ~3 years that I drove it so i'd say rotors are probably pretty safe, idk on pads though

Dude, just go to the autoparts store. At least there's some kind of quality control there. Don't take a shot in the dark on some setup you've never heard of.

Why cheap out on something that STOPS YOUR CAR??? Pretty dumb don't you think?

Besides, rotors and pads are already cheap. You're gonna end up spending about the same.

Auto part stores aren't cheap for rotors. I do all my dealings online and haven't had any complaints about quality control. Got a set of ebay d/s rotors that lasted me 2 year. Other parts that I can't find I get from rockauto.com which I recommend for any other part you could possibly need. Don't hate on something because it is cheap. They can offer cheap prices because they don't have to maintain a store front. I don't deny that you CAN find crap on ebay, but most bad decisions the users fault for not reading up on feedback ratings, warranties, and return policies.

2 years doesnt seem very long for rotors, how man miles did you put on them, how hard were you driving? dd or track?

haha 2 years is a long time for stock sized rotors on a 240... I've warped rotors on my S13 on the very first drive. Granted I was driving like I'd sat on a wasp, but still. My personal opinion- rotors you can cheap out a bit, but always buy reputable pads. I'm a fan of hawk, although I'm looking into Ferodo for my current project.

AZ89two4Tsx this is exactly why i made this topic, to get feedback about them. Obviously im not going to buy them if everyone has negative feedback. But a friend of mines knows someone who had ebay rotors and he compared them to high quality brakes. And as for the pads i would definitely buy nice pads.

agreed, rotors are pretty tough to screw up, my buddy had ebay cross drilled rotors on his z32 and they lasted for a long time... on pads though, i would stick with name brand 100%

Got 1000 miles on a set of Napa $22 a piece rotors and hawk hps pads. For a basically stock setup, I couldn't be happier.
