Hi,

Can you use the intake manifold from the 8-port head with a 4-port head?

Thanks,

Darian

I have an answer AND a question.

1)Yes and No. My lack of knowledge of the 4 port manifold may mislead me. If the 4 port mani is a 2 piece (technically, 3) like the 8 ports, then yes, as long as the piece that goes between the plenum and head is 4 port. But i do not believe this is the case, as the 8 port is a 2 piece manifold due to the butterfly assembly. Since the 4 port is absent of these, it may only be one piece. It is entirely possible to get a 4 port "butterfly delete" piece made, and you could then use an 8 port mani.

And my question is) Why?

Would that be very much work for a machinist to do? I'm getting my engine rebuilt.

I got a good deal on a 4-port head, and I thought I would install it while my engine is being rebuilt.

Thanks,

Shouldn't be too taxing for a competent machine shop. Call around locally and describe what you need.

Remember the injector positioning is centred on the four port head, rather than the off centered position of the eight port..

You would be better off trying to source the sub manifold than have it fabricated..

As has been stated, there is a sub-manifold that contains the injector bosses. The upper manifold and plenum are the same.
