I'm doing the 300ZX front brake upgrade on my 240SX and I have a few simple questions. First question is where exactly do the pad retainers go and do I really need them? I have an FSM for the 300ZX brake pad change but it's hard to tell where exactly the retainers go. Also the Hawk HPS brake pads I bought have one shim already glued to the back, should I use any of the factory 300ZX shims? Sorry if these questions seem kinda dumb but I want to make sure I do this the right way, instead of just slappin everything together. My car is a 1995 240SX with ABS and the calipers are from a 1995 300ZX Twin Turbo. Here's a diagram showing the 300ZX calipers:

the pad retainers u dont need them.. they are more just to keep the shims in place while your putting them in..if the hawk pads already have shims on them.. i wont recommend putting the oem shims on just because u dont know what it may do may do nothing may hurt it better just to leave it how its meant to be
