Quick question: 90-96 rear axle nut size???

Does anyone know what size socket I'll need for a rear axle nut on a 94 Q45? I want to hunt the junkyard sunday but don't want to buy a bunch of sizes and return the wrong ones later. I glanced at the online FSM and didn't get any help from the diagram.

Could you show us because I don't have much of any idea?

Also the only sockets that you need when working with this car are 17 mm, 19 mm, 20mm, 21mm, 22 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm and 14 mm I would try those and I know I may have missed some as well.

This is a big socket, something like 28 or 32 mm. Axle nut.

Thats huge I would think that that's size is only for the EGR tube screw.

Where abouts on the axle is this?

i was hunting for a j30 rear end and found one but just like you i didnt know the size of the axle nut socket. since i work at an autoparts place i loaned some axle nut socket for free 30mm, 32mm and 34mm. even the 34mm was small so im guessing its a 36mm. maybe q45 is the same size. but i know its bigger than 34mm. hope this helps.

Good find. I actually did have a 36mm axle nut from a previous project but I forgot to update the thread. One day, someone will need this info and find this thread useful. Thanks again exnihilos
