QUICK QUESTION!!! 240sx. Is this a good buy or no?

so i went and check out a 240sx yesterday. it's a 1990 S13 white. No rust what so ever. The guy is selling it for 700 and i think i can pull it off with 500 bucks.

The bad: The engine starts, but it makes a sound like the piston is banging against the wall. It make like clicking sound. Lots of smoke is coming out. then you have to keep giving it gas for it to stay alive.((( oh yea, forgot to mention. the car have been sitting in the garage for 2 years w.o starting.)) lol

I know the smoke is from things built up inside. since it haven't started in a while, so thats normal. How about the engine sound?? oh yeah. when its starting, the engine SHAKES like crazy..

would this be a good buY??

If there isn't any rust on the car its an ok buy. Sounds like the motor mounts are broken - reason why it shakes and it also sounds like the piston might be hitting the valves a compression test may help you there.

so, would u advise me to buy this car? how much would u think it'll cost to fix this beauty up?? i think the piston might be making that sound because the oil might be too old? the car have not start for 2 years..

do you have any pics of the car? Is it a hatch or coupe? What motor does it have? Many ?'s to ask b4 i can answer that ?

its a hatch





the body is pretty good, beside the theres a fender bender.

i think its a KA motor. its the weaker one =D

I'd pick it up for that much. It looks like its been in the garage for quite some time Wich helps on the no rust issue. Do you know if it has the dohc or the sohc? Makes a difference!

You can always do a motor swap later have him dig that f$ck@r out and give it a good hose down. Will look a lot better!

Not always..... My g/f just bought a pignose that has the ka24de in it but i think its a swap

edit: i say go take it home for that price as long as there isn't any rust!

well i just sold my rustless s-13 coupe shell with no motor and trans for 1500 so 500 with a motor that needs a rebuild its a steal i think. figure you can have a turbo car for about 3 grand including the price of the car
