Hey all,

I've been reading on this board about seafoam & how many people swear by it so I want to give it a try.

It is supposed to be taken in a vacuum line that feeds all 8 cylinders such as the PVC valve. Unfortunately I don't know where the PVC valve is. I also wanted to change it out. Is it a part that can be found in any automotive store(Like anything is for Q's)?

Thanks for your help.

The PCV valve exhaust the vapors from the blow by created by bad ring sealing from the crankcase [hot oil vapors] and valve covers. Using this line just dumps into valve covers and crank case! This system is not the place to inject anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The vacuum line feeding the fuel pressure regulator or the big line feeding the brake master booster lead to plenum but the problems are usually the throttle body and the 2-4" inside the plenum!

Dealers are the place to purchase PCV valve or just clean the one you have.

Seafoam is the last thing I would put near an automobile engine.

Find BG products and a shop that uses them with the pressurized canister to fog the intake tract and fuel rail direct flush.

Even with the above the Q requires elbow grease prior [to clean out the bulk of the crud] because many things just partially dissolve and blow it into the cylinders where it fouls the plugs and creates layers on the piston tops and valve stems.

Manual clean first then the other stuff to get where you cannot reach.

Q45TECH, can u elaborate on why you are so adamant against seafoam. What has your experience been? Is there a difference between using it on a Q v/s say a Maxima?

The thing is, your kinda spinning you wheels with the stuff... The only thing it does is clean your intake valves if you inject it via the plenum... Ive done it and I cant say it did anything..... if you use BG44k that will keep them clean enough...

In order for it to do something, you gotta hand clean it first... You need to take off the throttle body and from there you can clean most of the plenum and EGR, etc from there... Get everything sparkling and then you can do the fogger.....

Youll be glad you did.....

No BG44k is used just for the gas tank... There are other BG products for different thing...

The only thing I would use to clean the intake valves is gm TOP ENGINE CLEANER. Its made exactly for that so if you want to do it, get that stuff..... $10 at any GM dealer.....

you always want to physically clean first.....

I read in an Infiniti TSB, that fuel injector cleaners, are not to be used on 1994 and later cars, because they can cause more harm than good to the injectors.

Just reading the many TSB's I got off of the Infiniti website.

I Don't have access to it now, but it is on my work computer.

Unfortunately, not using at least vaporized induction cleaners leaves the fluffy carbon residue on valve backs and stems, and the build up of deposits on the piston crowns!

Factory oked BG44k for use in every 15k services as not causing the problem with 94+ injectors........the were referring to the MUCH STRONGER rail type cleaners.

If you check with CA and AZ dealers they still use lots of BG44K to wash the cruddy gasoline additives out of injectors. As unfortunately the 94 changes were meant to address the higher concentrations of MTBE and some aromatics which has now been banned in CA and other states........So we are back to square one having injectors that don't match gasoline.Ethanol and ethanolized water are new to California this year we will have to wait and see how things react. I expect lots of fuel pump failures from rust particles.
