Quick Q... Reuse stock headbolts?

Yes or No.....

Can you re-use stock head bolts... Nothing in the FSM says to use new ones.

I think reusing them once should be ok.

i thought that they were tourque to yeild, which means the bolts stretch when torqued correctly....i could be wrong as my FSM that i downloaded is missing that page.

The fsm doesn't specify to get ne bolts.

The oem headbolts can be reused as they are not torque to yield type bolts but id say it depends. Im sure there wouldnt be problem reusing them but id consider buying new ones, or only using the old ones one more time. Who knows, maybe someone in Japan/Austrailia who owned the engine before you did already used them once, twice, etc. The point is you dont know! Why even take a chance?! Whenever rebuilding something or for peace of mind, you never want to reuse old hardware that has been under stress and fatigue. Check the price of a headbolt set from your local parts store or Nissan dealer. Also consider using studs instead of bolts for the head. Either bolts or studs will get the job done. Goodluck!
