I'm about to change my oil and I was wondering if someone could let me know what weight oil I should be getting? I can get a good deal on a case of Castrol Syntec but its 5w 50. Would that work properly in a 95 se w/ 112,000 kms (Canada) in the winter-spring? The local mechanic has the 5w50 but I just want to make sure that it suits my car the best... and not get it just because its what the mechanic has.

Thanks.

10w30 is best with the amount of mileage you have on the car unless you've been using a something real light like 5w30. 10w30 isn't all that heavy, it's the most common weight of oil and works fine in any condition.

10w30 synthetic is what goes in my engine with 123k miles...just sticking with what the previous owner used. I was still running standard 5w30 on my Probe GT with 100k miles when I sold it. No leaks or anything.

In a Canada winter go with a 5w-30.Or if you are willing to spring for synthetics (not a bad idea in Canada winter) you can go with a 0w-30 or 0w-40.

Fred...:)
