I have a ka24e and was told before i bought it, it was rebuilt. It looks clean enough to have been rebuilt and oil is clean when i change it still, like not black or brown, its gold.

I didnt ask if the PO put synthetic in it and i wanted to know what i could do or even if i should/can put synthetic in. Ive heard of the leaks and what not but wasnt sure if there were ways around this, like a "break-in" period of half and half.

So im looking for advice and maybe a trust worthy oil.

thanks

cause ive heard either 1) older seals can leak or 2) if he used non-synthetic before it would build up to stop any leaks and when switching to synthetic it will like clean it up and leaks would starts where the buildup was

#1. But you said the engine was rebuilt... Therefore, new seals.#2. Changing your engine oil wouldnt break any deposits up.#3. An engine flush wouldnt be recomended because that WOULD break loose deposits and could cause it to leak.

Put the synthetic in, or regular oil. Not gonna make a difference in the world. And yes you can switch back and forth from syn. to non syn. and it wont hurt anything. No matter what anyone says, doesnt matter. Hell, if you wanted you could put 2 quarts of syn and 2 quarts of non syn. and it wouldnt hurt it. You can mix, change, etc... wont make a difference.

I've never heard of mixing synthetic with non synthetic, i always heard that you would have to flush the engine out before switching from one to the other

If the motor is broken in, and you're only seeing street use from the car, you can just use cheap oil. It's a good thing if you're seeing clean oil at regular change intervals. This means that it hasn't broken down much, and that you've got a tight motor.

If you don't mind spending 30-40 bucks per oil change, run a K&N filter and Mobil 1 synthetic.

Also a misconception...there is no reason why you cant mix them, or just switch from one to the other and then back again. Will never hurt your engine. U can contest it all you like, but u can still do it. Thats like cars that say only to use mobil 1. Thats just because mobil made a deal with that car company, and they have to put that on the cap.

Now, I wouldnt suggest mixing the oils or switching back and forth, what I am saying is that if you are short on money at one oil change, dont be afraid to change it with non synthetic, just make sure to change it before its due again. Synthetic oil will allow you to stretch the oil change interval slightly, although, wouldnt recommend that either. Also, you can add a quart of non synthetic to an engine that has synthetic in it, if thats all you can find. Will not hurt anything. Although, if your low, its probably time to change the oil anyway.

Just use 10w40, little thicker.
