ok so, I won $100 for CXracing and got an exhaust manifold for $30 to my door (yay!). question is what is the best way to remove an exhaust manifold with REALLY rusty bolts? I was thinking letting the engine warm up and use alot of WD-40.

using a small torch is always my perfered way of loosening a bolt over running the engine. the mani, then is fing hot too.

idk about number 2

number 3, based on what Ive seen? hook up with her best friend?

but no really, there are how many females out there? its your life, you need to be happy in all aspsect.......... no need to try and use a 9/16 nut on a 14 mm bolt.

enjuku racing sells an exhaust stud kit for SR's . It's great hardware, stainless steel studs w/ male torx on one end to aid in threading the stud to the head.

The nuts are very beefy and flanged. I do not recommend using the nuts on the lower 2 studs, closest to the firewall. These are the hardest two to get off and the nut does not like to spin as easy as originals / standard nut. Thus making you have to use a wrench for most of the unthreading, where as with standard nuts you just break them loose then undo with fingers.

IIRC price was ~$50?

cant help you with the turbo question but relationships...

have a seat get a snack and listen up..

i know its up to that person whether or not they should stay or go but understanding the human mind's inability to make a choice because they might regret it it would be nice to follow a few hints from your relationship

-THE MAIN QUESTION. Do you truely love her?

if a girl broke up with me multiple times i would:-troubleshoot why it is happening, is it me, is it her, is it some big cocked guy she met?, is it her mom...and imagine if anything would be better if i changed that.-think about why i even tried to get her back from the first break ups and re-evaluate what shes worth to me.-ask her over and over if she loves me if she wants me if she is sure of what she wants.-if im at fault: lies, attention not given, too many female friends, any habitual problems...etc and see if i am willing to give up a part of who i am to be a part of who she is.

ill tell you this much...i went out with a girl but after a couple months i figured that im not completely sure about her but because i broke her heart i felt really guilty and gave it my best shot to give it another try...long story short i fell for another girl that i know i would never have and she found out what i wrote on my xanga (half a decade ago!!) cuz she had my password. i tried to get her back and stuck with her even though theres times i want out and when she would break up with me or try to break up with me i was too used to being with her that i would really lay my life down for her (oh and since yssup was GOLD to me back then and xes was readily available when i wanted) till 3 years later i couldnt take it no more and as soon as she gave me a reason...a REAL reason to break up with her (fcukd some guy that looks like Smeagul ----PRECIOUSS!!!) and from then on i became happier...

thats my short story and reason for letting her go..

oh and yes. i did hate her parents/family too. i always felt like im a wild wolf they tamed and would scold for anything i did.

ADDENDUM:

I am currently with whom i believe to be my destined one. My name is Eric and she is Ericka. We have SOO much that is SAME that it feels like coincidence all the time, example: my ex-gfs name is the female version of Ericka's ex-bfs...umm i wont say names but just for the examples sake, like Stephen and Stephanie or Brian and Brianna or Michael and Michelle or Adrienne and Adrian...

with Ericka...i dont care if she kills my dog (if i had one), burns my car , stabs me with a 8 inch blade with rust for guaranteed tetanus, or calls me any insults...as long as she loves me and me only (Love and Lust, Emotional and Physical..etc) ----as long as im the only one she loves...i could never break up with her and if she breaks up with me i would sacrifice everything to get her back and die single if she says no.

END STORY.

i probably should've posted that one in the lounge eh? lol Thanks for the input too "Rin5". very helpful. Theres been this Mexican chick that is UBER nice, way nicer than my present/previous girlfriend. hehe

i'll probably end up heating the bolts up with a small torch like Gabby suggested.

Still would like a "little" input on ONLY oil cooling my turbo, since i think what i read was that water cooling is only for cool down after the car is shut off?

Thanks alot everyone.!

get a bigger turbo, run more boost, dedicate more time to your car.

I did, I swear lol.

2871R 22 psi.

cant hold 22 psi to redline with this internal gate so I think im goin external

thats my advice in a nutshell.

If she broke up with you...I would take some time apart from her and spend time with other girls. You may realize that you've deserved to be treated better the whole time. Honestly it would help us to know exactly whey she broke up with you (and how old you are) to give the best advice.

As far as eliminating the water cooling of the turbo, I wouldnt do it. If you ever upgrade to a BB turbo it needs the water cooling as it doesnt get or need as much oil as a journal bearing turbo.

For the rusty studs/nuts....I would replace them with that SS kit if you can get them out. Dont run the car to get them hot...that will heat up everything and you will burn your arm. Heat it up with a handheld propane torch and use a 6 sided socket....airtools would be nice (as long as the dont snap the stud).

put it this way, i've probably been with this girl to long and need a break lol. im probably one of the youngest members here to own a CA18 also. if that gives you a clue lol.

I figure i'll keep the water. Sounds like a plan. Anybody still recommend a turbo timer with water cooling, or is that just overkill?

i'll heat them up with a handheld torch, get them off, then wirewheel the **** out of them and get all the rust off (covering the exhaust ports of course)

Thanks again everybody. This NICO family is better than my deadbeat dad

Sounds like a break would do you both some good.....could help you both realize alot about each other....good and bad.

I dont think the turbo timer is overkill....when you turn the engine off the turbo stops getting oil and water....so dual cooling it doesnt matter when you shut the engine off because it will still get hot and could cook the oil into crust (called oil "coke") which will lock up the turbo over time and get stuck in your turbo seals causing them to not have a dynamic seal and leak. By dual cooling and NOT using a turbo timer you are betting that the turbo's temperature will remain low enough while running that it wont cook the oil if you shut off the engine and walk away after running hard. I dont have any temperature data to give you ...but I'm dual cooling and using a turbo timer on mine. Instead of a timer you could always just sit in your car and idle for a minute before you shut it off....same difference.

yea thats what everybody says also. I think im going to buy one. I'm WAY to impatient to sit in it while it idles for a minute, even 30 secs. probably cuz this is my first turboed car lol. plus i can get rid of my Volt gauge when i get a turbo timer and make room for something else, either fuel pressure or oil temp.

Thanks for all the input

yea we probably do need a break. i'll tell her Sunday, too lazy right now plenty of fish in the sea!

well my friend has an RB25, and when purchasing swap parts from Phase2, they gave him a Top Fuel BOV, Oil Catch Can, and Turbo Timer w/ harness for free. you think i should trade him my a/f ratio gauge and volt gauge + $15 for the turbo timer that reads volt, and a/f ratios? Idk how well the turbo timer w/ the a/f readings would work??

and btw, i got my manifold from CXRacing today. I would say its of very good quality. welds are nice, very solid construction, and is just very nice looking. I would say CXRacing is a good company to buy from. here are some pics.
