Found one about 20 minutes away for $20. Do I need the TPS and the throttle cable pulley, or will CA bits just swap over? Also, I assume that a KA24E gasket will fulfill my sealing needs. Thanks guys!

Just take out the 4 allen bolts and that is everything you need.

BE WARNED: The KA-E TB will have to be mounted upside down on the manifold. This means that the coolant ports will be on the top. You don't need to hook them up, but they'll look funny. You can cut them off though. You WILL have to run a bypass hose from the intake mani to the little tube under the mani.

The KA-E gasket is exactly what you need, but are you planning on pulling the manifold off to port it out to fit the new TB?

Well, I am debating. I fully understand that pulling the mani and porting is the optimal way. But since injector o rings and mani-to-head gasket will need to be changed...not to mention all of the wiring and vac lines are such a pain LOL. I was considering stuffing a hand towel into the mani and using a Dremel to port, then pull out the towel and vacuum the mani. Thoughts?

How about pulling off the backplate on the other side of the mani and stuff it in from that side. Then when you pull it out, pull it through the TB side. If you run the vaccuum when your pulling and vaccuum it off good before you start pulling, you should be OK. That is exactly what I did when I added another nipple to my intake mani for my fast idle for my SDS.

You'd prob better get 2 TB gaskets, so you've got a new one for the back plate too. They're not too expensive so it can't hurt.

yes front and bck are identical

also you might want to change the oil early, not long after since any bits that do get through either go out the exhaust (ok) or end up in oil (at worst, hopefully)

Or you could get off your lazy azz and take of the manifold.

Meh. I'm not too worried about it. I am fairly certian that the towel method will be fine. I will also put some rags in each of the runners as well.

I'll try to shoot some pics and do a how to.

Sounds pretty easy.

BTW, what sort of tuning would be nessesary for the extra air you would have coming in? Would the MAFS sense it and the ECU automatically compensate or what?

Yup, you're dead on. I don't think that this is a big enough TB upgrade that the computer can't deal with it. The potential concern would be whether or not the accleration pump part of the fuel injection system would add enough fuel. I ran mine with the stock ECU that way before and didn't have any problems.

air is air.. I don't imagine that the difference in possible TPS reading would affect fuel delivery enough to be an issue, since its not like you're going from a 30mm TB to a 90mm one or something, its just a little bit bigger, and it'll pick up the MAF flow regardless.. so many it has slightly less accel enrich.. on noes!

besides thats tunable, altho im not sure what sort of value it is.. i.e. +-, what unit, etc

My only reason for doing this is that my coldpipe that I bought prefabbed was from a CA S13 that had a KA24E TB on it, so the outlet on the pipe is bigger than my throttle body, necessitationg me to run a reducer. This eliminates that need.

And for less than the price of a silicone reducer as well...

On tuning: I DO have a KA24E MAF as well. I assume that I am still ok?
