Man, it has been a WHILE since I have gotten the chance to get back on this forum! I shoulda never picked the user name I did considering two of those vehicle I no longer have...lol.

Either way I am at the point where my mother may buy my Jeep and I'm going to be buying the 98 QX4 that we've had for the past year. Now has 113,000 on her.

Is this a good mileage interval to drain & refill front/rear diffs as well as transfer case??

I know I'll be using the same 75W90 gear oil that I used on my old AWD 325ix Bimmer for the diffs on the Q.. Royal purple or Redline is top of the line stuff too I used for the BMW.

But what about transfer case fluid? What grade for that I could not come across any older posts.

Thanks guys!

Okay, I am back on track with now and would like to get this done before winter!

Did all the searching I could do between older posts and other sites. I am only sticking with Red Line or Royal Purple fluids. Used to RL since I was VERY happy with turn out in my old AWD Bimmer.

So this is what I have so far:

ATF: Royal Purple Max ATF (safe for Nissan Matic "D") according to RP website.Transfer Case: (also Max ATF)Front/Rear Diffs: 75W90

***Now questions for the diffs...Both RL & RP supply 75W90, but should I be using a different (80W90) as I have seen mentioned on here because I have the Limited Slip???

My FSM calls for API GL-5 for standard diff gear. BUT LSD gear oil API GL-5 AND SAE 80W90 for the LSD...

I don't want to frig anything up if front diff requires 75W90 & back is 80W90 like the dealership and FSM recommend. I called my local Nissan & Infiniti dealers and they said it would be around $150 to drain & refill ATF, Transfer Case, & both diffs using their OEM fluids I have listed in my manual. But I want to use better fluids than that! Just need help from someone to clarify the differences in the differentials. Thanks!

Check out this thread:

Fluids and Filters

There's lots of good recommendations there.
