ok this is for s14 owners who don't have the time to put the car into a shop for 3 days to get there old bushings burned out and pay them hundreds for it.
I originally had that loud a** clunk in reverse and any time u start to bang gears on the highway. so instead of getting into all that work right now i installed this temporary fix.
I did this at my job,a dealership on a lift with air tools, but honestly it isn't hard with a jack and breaker bar.
Parts- assorted sockets
can of pb blast
1/2in air gun or breaker bar and pipe
scissors or wire cutters
possibly a pry bar too
and a pack of energy suspension s13 rear subframe inserts ($20 or so)
first you start of by cutting the the inserts top half off of all 4 of them. This is because the s14 has solid bushings so basically your using the insert to gap and push your subframe against the car.
second you unbolt the 2 front subframe bolts and push in the insert and the 2 large pieces you cut off. insert the 1-2 new washers included in the pack. bolt up the front.
third repeat the same for the rear(the bolts will sit a few threads lower now)
forth go test drive. the rear is much more solid and has no clunking anymore.
i know this is a cheap unprofessional fix and does not yield the same results as putting in the whole bushing new but it cuts it for now.
job time is about 1-2 hours and is fairly easy not including any seized bolts
pm if anyone is intrested in pictures of what it should look like.. nico has me ona brain fart and idk how to upload pictures
