So, I've had my '08 G35S for nearly two months now (really only about 5 weeks -- Dealer had it for almost 3 weeks during Christmas, but that's a different thread...) and I've rolled 2,200 miles. Here is a quick list of my first impression, things I've uncovered, and issues I've run into. I'm hoping that some others have experienced what I have and can offer insight/direction. If anyone has any questions, let me know.

1. Never get tired of the instant power.2. Love the seats, love the seats, love the seats.2a. Leather seems to crease quite easily though.2c. Have noticed an outline of the butt heater starting to show through the leather (horizontal line through the middle of the seat cushion).3. Reasonably quiet and wind noise free, save for some very slight air penetration - seemingly at the window base on the driver door at the B-pillar.4. Engine noise is wonderful at WO, but straw and woopie cushion will be in order.5. Nav works great, but some streets in my area are not available, although I know they've been there for more than a few years.6. Bluetooth works reasonably well, but I have to max the volume to hear the person clearly while at speed. 6a. Not sure if it's the volume, the Bluetooth, or just the speaker, but I get a high-pitched squeal/buzz from the upper door tweeter when the person is talking.6b. For some reason, whenever I hang up a call, the screen automatically defaults the the nav map, regardless of what screen I was on when I started the call.7. Nice, tight steering and taught suspension w/o being too harsh.8. The trunk lid takes some good effort to close. I find myself mis-shutting quite a bit, forcing a second, harder attempt.8a. Love the ease with which the doors close, but I'm wondering why the amount of required effort isn't equal across all "doors". My A4 required the same effort to close the doors, trunk, and hood.9. Have had three rattles so far (totally out of the ordinary for my expectations). Anyone else?9a. Two-piece rearview mirror casing "ticked" when on anything but the smoothest roads -- Dealer replaced.9b. Headliner and sunroof shade rub with a fabric-like sound on just about every pebble -- Dealer said the couldn't replicate...9c. Worst one so far -- Gauge pod "ticks" almost constantly. I sourced the problem as the seem toward the front of the car where the spongy hoop meets the 1/2" strip of harder dash material (Not the adjustment gap opening). -- Dealer said "it's normal, they all do that." I told him my loaner didn't make any sounds at all, and it had 10K on it. His reply was that it didn't have the tilt/telescope. That's correct, but they both have the two-piece design and adjustment gap. I will likely fight it further later.9c2. Noticed that the whole pod is twisted clockwise about a degree compared to the gauges themselves (loaner seemed to be the same???). Also, the sponge material edges around the top of the gauge side buttons isn't glued down all the way because it flares out a bit (loaner was the same???).10. Getting used to the trunk opening, but will definitely be removing the CD-changer and replacing with the non-changer trunk panel.11. Love the ipod interface, but wish I could quick-search an artist or song title buy selecting the first letter. Using the wheel, arrows, or down button on the touch screen to get to Rise Against or Pennywise is a beating.12. Why do all of the interior compartment doors open in a smooth high-quality action (glove box, ashtray, cupholder lid, sunglass holder lid), but the armrest flys open like a catapult if you don't block it with your arm?13. Exterior finishes (all) are as soft as a baby's ***. I can already see spidering on the clear, and the grill and front bumper look like a 15-year-old in bad need of some Clearasil from a couple of ice storms we had last month (cities spread sand on the roads). I don't really care about the chipping chrome though because I'll be painting it black as soon as my schedule opens up.14. Gas mileage has been decent thus far through ginger take off and coasting in neutral to distant stoplights (avg about 19mpg on 60/day round trip mixed street lights and 75-80 cruise control).15. Shift lag and gear hunting at partial on/off throttle are getting a bit annoying. Grounding kit will definitely be in order.

Overall, I'm quite happy thus far. I need to get my debadge on before it's too late, and I can't wait to get some mods going. Very glad this forum is in existence. Everyone has been great so far, although it can be quite slow around here sometimes (Post up!). Hope all had a great holiday and New Year. If there are any GTG's in the Dallas area, chime in. Have a good week all.

Short story, easy answer...Set up my account before I bought the car. Plan was to go '09 G37, but ended up going '08 G35 due to timing and the deal. Yes, it's confusing, and yes, I am technically posing right now. May try to get the moderators to change my screen name, so I don't have to start over with a new account. Clear as mud?

Wow, you have obviously been taking notes or something, this is like amazing detail. You are in tune with your vehicle.

I would expect the majority of the concerns to be normal, but if you're having trouble with coverage, keep us posted, we'll try and keep you up to date with your legal coverage issues and such... Welcome!

and... ah John?

Tip for I-pod interface. I changed the "genre" on all my music as follows: All artists that start with A are under the "genre" of A...etc. Now it is extremely quick to find just about anything. Hope this helps.
