I'm pretty sure a stock cat is a lot more restrictive than either one of these http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/nc...r=361(looking at the 6" round 3" in/out and 16" long) or http://www.magnaflow.com/02pro...d=516...but just asking you guys to be sure.

Also, does a catylitic convertor keep sound levels down better than the previously mentioned mufflers?

I like my cars quiet

Thanks.

you're in san gabriel, correct?

i would recommend keeping a cat on.

it doesn't have to be stock; you can get an aftermarket hi-flow catco

you're aware of the consequences of running with no cat, correct? especially around sg, mpk, and especiall rowland/hacienda heights, walnut, right?

Felix - Go with the Magnaflow.

We (BRM) se them exclusively, and they're great.

The cat has SOME noise suppression qualities, but a high-flow is no louder or quieter than a stock one.

Ya.. I live in SG.. and commute to Walnut for school and to chill. Well my plan is to gut the cat.. and just keep it on there just for looks AND hope that they dont tap on it to see if its gutted.

So either muffler would really help keep the noise down right?

And someone told me that dynomax and magnaflow are manufactured by the same company.. I never looked into it, but it seems that much of their products are very very similar.

I currently have a 3" d/p with stock cat, the brm 3" c/b with 22" resonator and it's still a bit too loud for my 60 mile/day commute.

Will I be able to retain high flow while lowering my sound and resonance level?

Felix - Magnafflow does not do anything for Dynomax (Walker), they're two very sperate companies.

Is your car turbo?

Ooh, ok. Thanks for the clear up.

Ya, currently have a ca18det..

I would also like a muffler that looks like a stock Evo 8 unit, or a is300... something sorta like the RSR ex-mag muffler... any suggestions?

rs*r exmag looks like stock

but one guy had rs*r gtii (or was it hi-power?) on his car, and said wrx axle back bolted right on.

might be worth investigating!
