any writeups on how to remove stock catback... i know this sounds as noob as possible but i wanna make sure i get it prefect because i stripped a bolt on my supra that i wasnt supposed to touch in the first place and i ended up having to pay a machine shop good bucks to cut it and weld a damaged piece.. anyways. for the record, im leaving the catback on.. just running open cats.. a little louder for just an hour of wrench time..

btw thats a retarded idea...and i dont feel like explaining why. Your car may sound louder...but it will feel slower.

and i will explain...cars need back pressure. by opening up the piping where the cat is you are getting rid of some of this back pressure that builds up as the pipe extends.

What you are doing is basically the same thing as someone putting 3" piping on there Versa...its going to make your car slower.

If I were to suggest something is to replace that cat with a Hi-Flow cat, leave the resenator on because it gives it a little more deep tone. Put some 2-1/4 inch piping from the 1-1/2 that is there (need someone to confirm this size im just guessing) and right next to the muffler put a QTP pipe. If you don't konw what that is then look it up.

This is the best setup for a N/A Versa that you want to look stock, note that it will not sound stock at all. I'm guessing it will have a really agressive sound...kinda like when you hear alot of barking and you find out its coming from some little puppy....almost the same thing.

If you dont care about sound or looks at all just get some 2-1/4 piping...connect it to the down pipe and have just 1 streight piping going from the front to back...no muffler at all. <-best proformance again when just working with the exhaust.

i am extremly bored at work and my boss is 3k miles away so ya....take this how w/e

go on some p2p site...find loud muffler sound clip...get some nice speakers...and press play everytime you take off...trust you will turn some heads.

and which TT motor...there are quite a few.

you can remove the bolts...i have a friend that did it on his sentra but its just not the best idea performance wize. but it is the cheapest way to make your exhaust sound louder.

well you guys win/.. after jacking up the car, and first noticing the frame rails bent out of their mind.. which is disturbing to say the least, and how rusted the bolts are.. and how much work it would be.. i changed my mind.

...

You were scared of taking out the exhaust system, but somehow you think you're going to cram a VG30DETT into the thing?

...

Wow.

one.. im a class c mechanic. my brother is a class a. the swap is fairly straightforward, and we will be able to tackle it in a few days tops. two, yes, the site of a bent frame rail indicating how worn the body is would scare any z owner. so before you make a comment, do your research. thanks.

This dude is on the wrong board!! We are talking apples and he is talking oranges. He is talking about his old rusty 1993 Z. No Versa responses need apply here.

Did you do your research before posting in this forum? This is the VERSA forum... and now I'm starting to think you're not talking about a Versa, but your Z.

If you're talking about a VG30DETT in a Z, DUH... of course it will fit. I thought you were talking about a VG30DETT in a VERSA...

So... pot... kettle... black.

Wow...how do you make 6 posts to the wrong forum without realizing it? I was wondering why his frame would be bent and rusted already.

I agree with lain on this one.

My friend removed his stock muffler from his Fit and it sounds mighty nice.He said he left the catalytic converter on tho...
