:withstupI hear the transmission is short and you have to do some trimming of the metal. As TMS said, why???

purely for the fact that if the car/motor can be found in decent condition in a junk yard(cheap from a junk yard) i might get it due to the fact that i found out that the tapping from my engine i've been hearing(and asking about on the forums) might end up being worn rod bearing(s) and instead of rebuilding the motor(unless i can just find rod bearings for it, gotta look though not to far into the process) i may just have a reason to swap the motor out but dont have alot of funds so im gonna have to go cheap, at might as well get a turbo with the motor if i have to swap it, but might just get a KA anyways, depends on what i can find, one last question, i would like to go with the DET but dont know any definitive prices and dont have alot of time to search, either of u guys know a ballpark number for the cost of DET motor set?

n/m i got a chance/time do some searchin on a CA-DET, not a bad price, might go that way......im assumeing the DET would have the same issues as the ET, but either way im gonna start studying the CA, thanks for yer help.

CA18ET is MUCH more rare than the CA18DET. The ET was only found in the 84-86/7 Turbo 200SX hatchback. That was it... it was not in any other US based Nissan vehicle. i.e. its rare as ****. I've seen ONE in a junkyard... and the turbo & manifold lasted a weekend... =(

The DET is less rare as its imported regularly... but it was never actually sold here in the US, so its rare from that standpoint... but no one imports ETs... =(

Ummm dunno about that kaz.....Your right about it only being those years and only in the 200sx, but I'd bet there are ten times as many et's in america as det's . I don't think I'd bother putting the work into a s13 ca18et swap, but I know someone on the boards has one.

Well go looking for some... maybe they're more readily available in your parts... but they're rare as hell here. I checked every junk yard in a 50 mile radius... didn't find a SINGLE Turbo hatchback... =( I found a number of non turbos... but no turbos. This was back when I needed a manifold for mine... =(

the probably all got totalled and crushed into little peices on impact at 130mph or something... hahah, after all, more likely to have catastrophic ends for faster cars!

Well it could just be that the NW has a bunch of the canadian turbos(they got the turbos for the full run instead of the v6), but I've seen 8-10 turbos in the yards in portland, one place had 3 at once
