What is this packing/unpacking you speak of? When replacing rotors and pads you do not need to refinish the old or new rotors. There is a break-in process with the new pads/rotors which you should follow. I would also recommend buying a replacement shim kit as well as the brake retainers. Also check the slider dust boots for any breakage and replace as needed. To fit the new pads over the new rotors you will need to use a C-Clamp and small block of wood to compress both pistons all the way open. I would open the brake fill cap while performing this and watch to make sure there isn't any overflow. Also ensure you put the cap back on even if taking a small break because brake fluid attracts moisture and that's bad!

you know I'm not sure a friend of mine is going to help me with this and he asked me if I need to pack my routors or if my rotors need to be repacked. I'm not sure what he meant. I just told him I didnt think so because I hadnt seen anything about it in the research id done. Thanks for yalls input and help btw.

I'm guessing he said/meant bearings, and no, they are part of the hub bearing assembly, which "isn't a serviceable assembly".

Back in the day of drum brakes all around, this was the case and "re-packing" was needed.

As indicated, the hub assembly holds the lug nuts, bearing, race and tone ring for the ABS in one unit that does not get serviced. Removing the hub assembly would require re-packing but if you're removing it, you're probably replacing it anyway.

That your friend had to ask that question indicates they think you might have drums....Be certain they did a little reading on the car and your brake setup beore they start work. The brakes on the M are not complicated systems comparatively speaking to modern vehicles, but you can screw it up all the same.

Remember that there's always the benefit of having the wheel on the opposite axle to use as a reference to make sure you put it together right.
