ok I looked on google and I'm not sure if its the turbo or what

the other day my oil feed line came loose and I lost almost all my oil, needless to say the turbo was being starved, I had to shut the car off(not too hot but the turbo was oil less for about 1/2 mile). Now today I noticed on decel and at idle the car is burning oil, I pulled all plugs and no oil is present.

Whats the deal? also no oil in charge pipes!

Pop your downpipe off and see if theres oil in it, thats a sure fire way to tell. Also check the color of the turbine wheel. If its black and oily, which it probably is, then you need a rebuild or a new turbo.

A single drop of oil will smoke like mad. Sounds like you have a lot more then a drop.

One of two things will happen...

Oil will burn off and you'll be fine

or

Its blown

It only takes a second to smoke a center cartridge. They spin at 20,000+ rpm bro. Sounds like the aft seal is toasted. Does the shaft have any play? If the shaft doesn't have play you may be able to get away with just changing the seals. But the kit comes with new bushings, so it will be up to what needs to be changed.

It's pretty easy to do though.

A quick note, on the T3/TO4 I have, the shaft was reverse threaded on the compressor side. So be careful when pulling the compressor wheel retaining nut off...lol. I used an air ratchet and had less then desirable results

well its hard to tell if the oil is from the leak or if its actually out the d/p(I run open d/p), BUT I cleaned off the majority of the oil lastnight. This morning I'm gonna most liekly just take the turbo off and slap my stock manifold back on(make sure its the snail), then put my oil cooler on my feed line so its not just a loop.

Is it possible for just the exhaust side seals to blow, cause as stated I didnt see/feel any on the charge pipes, the d/p had black non oil soot(its always been like that lol(even before the rebuild...)) thanks for the help guys

anyone want to trade a turbo(I need an srt25 or t25) for a set of teins and gr2's I'll toss in some cusco plates

The rear seal is like a piston ring, it can be overheated and the oil will "coke" up around the grooves and make it leak. Often it can be cleaned and reused.

Yes just the aft seal can go bad.

stank you p0rn fluffer

lol just a shot in the dark here but could I possibly use some b12 chem tool in the oil for a few miles then change the oil out?

Also I had to use the oil I planned to change the wifes oil out for, its mobile one but its the synthetic stuff (clean 5000 IIRC) could that have anything to do with the oiling? I know its very thin oil, maybe add some lucas to it? I'm open to suggestions, I hate the thought of all the work I put in being shafted by a blown seal

You could always take it apart, examine/clean the parts and reassemble it. Take you like 6 hrs maybe to do it right.

Quit being such a Blown Seal yourself...
