I know this may have been posted in the CA/SR forum somewhere, but I searched quickly and found nothing. I have an RB in my 240 so this is another ball game for me. But a friend is going to order a CA18DET for his S13 and needs a stock side mount intercooler. I read up and from what I saw, the SR an CA smic are the same? right? Is the piping the same? Basically, if he picked up a smic from a RWD SR, would it clamp right on no problem? Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a dumb post but he wants to get this swap going soon.

SR & CA smic piping are different from each other. The sr smic works with the ca piping on your ca, and is a nice upgrade from your ca smic.

Thank you. I'll let him know. One more thing, When you get a motorset most dont show them coming with the piping. Is this a custom fabrication project we are going to have to tackle? He doesn't have the money right now for a fmic.

It's hit or miss as to whether they come with the piping or not, unless you get them from a reputable source as stated above.

When I bought mine, I got a front clip from Venus for no other reason but to guarantee that I had everything that I needed. But when I got it, it didn't have the intercooler or he piping.

The SR SMIC will work with a little work, but IIRC, its got a spot for the recirculation valve that the CA doesn't have.
