was the s13 240sx originally designed by nissan to attract female buyers?

basiclly, was the 240sx supposed to be a girl car?

it was suggested that the s13 was for women and the z32 was for men. a friend told me that, now i kinda want to know more.

anybody know?

Yes. The 240 was marketed to middle aged secretaries and girls going off to college.

Z32 guys do like to bring this up, but the bottom line is the fact the the S-Chassis has far higher performance potential due to it's lighter weight, superior aftermarket support and many engine options. The S-Chassis is also far easier to work on.

Also, because there are more S-Chassis on the road than Z32's, we have a broader user base for info. For example: You want a hot wheel fitment setup or exterior styling ideas, good examples are everywhere. On the other hand, really hot Z32's are like frikken unicorns, man. Rare to the point of almost being a myth...

Go have a look at NICO's "Best looking S13/S14" threads and then the "Best Looking Z" thread or go look at Rimtuck.com's Z32 section versus the S13/S14 section. You'll see what I mean. Seriously, it's pathetic. There's only about 5 or 6 really hot Z32's that I know of that frequent the online forums, which is a shame because the Z32 really is a great platform. There just aren't many examples of guys doing much with them because they're so heavy and expensive to mod/maintain.

Funny you say this. Before i knew what a 240 was, and when I first got mine and started looking at other 240's, they sort of struck me as a girl car. Also Just recently saw this magazine on ebay for sale that has a review in it for the s14. Front cover says "CHIC SHAPE NEW 240sx CATERS TO WOMEN WITHOUT SACRIFICING PERFORMANCE!"

Lol take a look heres the link.http://cgi.ebay.com/AUTOWEEK-1994-MAR-2 ... 5886732a60

^^^Ugh... That is such a black eye to us. :argh

Just keep in mind guys... Nissan marketed the 240sx completely different than the way they marketed the 180sx/Silvia. If we had SR's stock, the Z32 guys would have nothing to run their mouths about.

Yeah, dumb marketing dept. American's would much rather have an underpowered car with a bigger engine than a Turbo charge 2 liter.

Good thing KA's handle teh boost nicely.

No, no, NO! Don't you get it man? It's YOU they hate! It was all a game, a ploy, deceit at it's best! A creation to look far and above a man and be proud of the car ... Those felines ... I'll get them ... I'll wrap myself in bacon, butter and axle grease and cast myself into the oncoming course of the next Cabriolet I see ... Who's with me?!

so similar to unicorns in fact some owners feel the need to put one on the side of their car to reflect the rareness. :rotflmao

What's funny is that the unicorn Z is actually local to me... Somebody must have been smoking some really good sh*t to go through with that... :eek :inoutgay:

Persnally, I'd love to hang out with some Z guys... but all the ones I've met in person so far have been d!ck. They look down on 240 drivers like VW guys do. It's really irritating. Most of the Z guys on NICO's Z forum are pretty cool though.

" Cute guy, ugly car" I told her to sit on it...

I actually like the 3rd gen IROC style Camaro. I wanna see one slammed and dragging frame rails with great wheel fitment. Every car looks better with dope wheel fitment.

Remember the uglyazz MKIII Supra?

Risky Devil turned that ugly phucker into a damned hero car... I like the idea of applying this kind of styling to cheap RWD domestics.

Hell, I was driving down the highway a few days ago and saw a hella-flush Fiero that made my jaw drop... Thats right... a phucking FIERO! :eek :gotme :dblthumb:

Yeah I heard Silvia's were a girl car, too.

Maybe it's because the majority of the men in the world have become girls, because they can't hunt or fish for themselves anymore... :D

Sorry incoming text from the Mrs. ... Gotta go get slurpees and diapers ... Now, where did I put the keys to the minivan? :tisk:

the idea behind this thread is retarded. is the o.p. going to lose sleep at night thinking the 240 was originally designed to attract girls?

No, it was designed to attract female buyers ... it's the male owners that redesign it to attract girls. ;) ... hasn't worked for me yet though  .

like the title says, quick and stupid question. enter at your own risk.

personally i dont like the s13 more or less, i just thought is was cool to learn the my car's background/history.

i think almost any car can look good, given the money time an labor you put into it.

most old school vw guys i've met are pretty cool. in the summer, when you see all thier cars in a row or something, its like stepping into so-cal circa 1973.

What do you mean by 'distorted'? You mean, like, camera tricks or something? :gotme

Yeah, apparently. After seeing that car, I decided to do some research and see why is it that they have such a bad reputation... Well apparently the first model year had issues with engine fires and the car never really shook that stigma over its 4 year run. But I read that the '88 V6 model was actually pretty cool and badazz. If it weren't so rare, I might actually consider looking for one, just to be contrary... But bah... if I'm gonna get an MR, I'd just stick with the SW20...

Well just like any car, the Fieros can be made into wicked little street machines and fit right in there with the import AND domestic performers. Just like any, there's the good, the bad and the ugly. But with a V8 conversion they are badass mid-engine coupes ... my neighbor from my last house had the GT with a Vette motor in it ... dyno'd at over 550whp with his mods. Nice! Here's some nice ones with power to back'em (check the one with the Northstar):
