Quick and Possibly Stupid transmission swap.

Auto to manual swap.

Is it possible to swap without pulling motor as well? I know those bolts are really up in there.

Here's the stupid one...

If so, can it be swapped this way without a lift? i.e. in driveway with jacks

Or really should I just pull the motor/trans, swap, then reinstall?

here, i found this website the other day, hope it helps http://www.240sx.org/links/ins...p.htmand just fyi, they used a jack to pull out the transmission, so i'm guessing that as lond as ur not a dumbass, you will be ok and i'm pretty sure you dont need to pull out the motor as well

as long as you can jack the car up high enough and put it on stands then you should be ok. it needs to be high so the transmission will roll out from underneath. you could do it by yourself but friends would make things easier. those bolts on top of the bellhousing can be reached from underneath with a long enough extension. you'll need a wobble or universal so it can bend. the transmission isn't really heavy but youll need a jack or buddies to get it up in there.

i didn't do it when i replaced my clutch, but if your rear seal is old now would be a good time to replace it

i swapped mine, in the driveway, on a slope, with just a 30 dollar pep boys jack, 4 stands, and a set of hand ratchets. have to get innovative at times, but definitely doable.
