I've been working on changing injectors for a couple of weeks now.. I'm just about ready to finish today and start putting the plenum back on...

...but, I've decided I'm going to replace the fuel hoses, especially that one that connects the two halves of the fuel rails together. But, I don't want to wait until I can get some fuel hose shipped from Z1 (it's Sunday)

Does Advance or AutoZone have anything that's safe to use in there? I saw a post about fuel hose that suggests they don't carry what would be needed... I need to know if there is somewhere I can get that 5" piece at a brick n' mortar store near me... The rest of it I can wait for a shipment from the good guys at Z1 or specialty Z.

Can anyone give me the specifics of our fuel line?

And for reference, it's a 1993 300zx NA 2+2 bone-stock.

Nevermind, I didn't get far enough along in my work this weekend to need it yet. I'll just order fuel line from the right guys ;)

You just need to make sure that it is fuel injection hose, not just fuel hose. Be very careful because even the auto store guys mess this up. I made a big point that it had to be injection, and they still tried to give me fuel hose. The first time I needed it, I could only get it in pre-cut 18" sections. You can do all of the work up top with that.

I ended up buying a complete fuel line set from Z1, pre-measured and cut...

However, I'm now a bit worried, as the 8" piece on the top seems a bit too short. ??!? it's stretched tight between fittings. I think I'll replace it with my own hand cut segement. @#$% more $$$ :(

Gates Barricade fuel injection hose is a great hose to use vs OEM. It will be a lot cheaper with no ill effects on this. I have ran it for years with no issues. If you need the size, I can get it for you, but its better to buy it in a roll. I was able to get 25' relatively cheap, I think it came to 1.50 a foot, just look for deals online. If you live in a colder climates where hoses are prone to shrinking and leaking, go with the spring clamps vs screw clamps. Like these...

This is enough to do all the fuel lines. If

I actually did buy two of the spring clamps for use on the section between the two fuel rails, thinking that I don't want to have to go under the plenum each year to check the fuel clamps... (I was trying to be frugal, I can replace the remaining clamps later without having to pull the plenum)..

However, one of the two spring clamps broke, and I ended up having to use one of the screw clamps on that section... @#$% ugh. So, I'll have to go back in at some point to either tighten or replace that one @#$% clamp again. I would like to replace the remaining clamps with spring clamps at some point, when funding comes back up again... However, the next job is a timing belt next month. Sigh.

I'm kind of concerned that those spring clamps might be too easy to bend/break. I'd like to hope I got a defective one :(

I'm not sure which kit you got, but don't forget there's more fuel lines at the rear passenger side under the gas tank. I'd just do them all at once.

I wasn't planning to do my fuel lines, I just didn't want to put the plenum back on with a 21 year old piece of hose between the fuel rails.

I'm thinking I'll go ahead and buy a few more feet of gates hose to finish the remaining lines near the tank (it's a 2+2, but I assume there is still some hose near the tank), and replace that one line on the top of the engine that is just stretched too tight...

Oh, and I'll probably get those damned spring clips too, I don't want to need to think about retightening each cold season... (just that one @#$% clamp under the plenum.. ARGGGggg....)

Cool man, good luck. Also, realized I mistyped, the fuel tank and the lines are on the driver side.

I haven't read the whole thread so not sure if this was mentioned but you NEVER put spring clips on a fuel line! Also make sure you use a cutsafe clamp, either pressure style or worm-clamp with pressed groves vs, slits.

Those are fine, they are called spring clamps. They are new style that Nissan uses, Ive been using them for years with no issues.

Also, OP. You can position the heads of the clamp so that a long screw driver can access them through the throttle linkage area.

Those are spring clamps which I have had leak on me, the general consensus is that its best to use wormclamps, you may get away with it but why risk it.

Nolimit, could you post an example source for the kind of cutsafe worm style clamps you would recommend?

You should be able to get some variation of these at any autoparts store. This is what you want, notice how there is no way for the screw to contact the hose, thats what you want, its a little extra piece of mind over standard wormclamps and springclamps.

So, the middle example is Nissan's original screw style clamps that I already have on the fuel lines... Sounds like you're saying I should just keep what I have on there :) All but that one spring clamp... @#$% figures. I'll have to keep an eye on it, since it's down on the fuel rail itself.
