If the build date is 08/00 or newer, coil pack issues are much less common.
The HVAC control problem you describe only applies to manual A/C controls, and I believe all QX4s have automatic climate control, naturally, since they're luxury vehicles.
I don't think all QX4s come with HIDs from the factory.
As for power valve screws, the dealer can apply threadlocker for $300-ish, or you can DIY it (it's really not difficult).
Check condition of all fluids. Look under the radiator cap to see if there's any crud in the radiator neck. Crawl underneath and check for leaks and grease leakage.
If the QX4 has 105k miles or more, see if the spark plugs were replaced around this time, using NGK PLFR5A-11.
The Infiniti dealer can give you a printout of all service records if you provide a VIN, but I don't think this is a wise idea if you don't actually own the vehicle, heh.
