Can you clarify, are you specifically talking rim diameter, or rim width?

I've seen 18" 'safely' done and it barely fit; search for posts by HeavyDuty. 20" seems nearly impossible without body modification. Also search for posts by OneTonGarage.

20" rims fit easy on the Q. I have seen it many time here in NY. Actually 18" rims look small on the Q sometimes. Since you want to lower your ride though 18" rims would look beautiful. Just watch the width of the rim and tire combination. Other can comment better on this than me but I believe 9.5" wide with 255/45R18 would be a nice combo.

Might want to do some reading of previous posts to determine the consequences.

Depends if you want a parking lot queen or a highway performer.

No doubt that 20" rims will not give you that super smooth drive. How bad are your roads? 20" rims+ bad roads+ bad shocks= messed up ride
