After reading various posts and topics about the transmission I just need some clarification:

Let me first off by saying I have an RB25 in an s13 coupe, now from there:

Apparently from what I read up on is the speedometer not going to work with this transmission and will I need some sort of conversion?Or were these people have there own problems not associated with the transmission?

also, would I need to put an rb20 bellhousing on the transmission or will this 6-speed transmission not work on an rb25?

Thanks

The speed sensor for an S15 transmission is located in the differential. If I remember correctly, it needs something to alter the signal going to the cluster to read properly.

And as far as I know there is no way to currently put an SR transmission on an RB engine. The RB transmissions are larger in size than SR transmissions, so you can't swap bellhousings. And nobody makes an adapter block to place an SR transmission onto an RB block.

RB20 trannies have the same internals as the KA and SR just diff bell housings.

Now, as far as an RB transmission goes...I guess an S15 transmission would work, if indeed the S13 SR Trannies are the same Bellhousing to Transmission Housing bolt pattern. So in theory if you put an RB20 housing on the S15 transmission, it should work. I dont see why you would want to though. If you want longer gearing. Go with a Z31(3.54:1), Z32(3.86:1) or Q45(3.4*:1) Differentials.

I was probably going with a z32 in the end anyhow, I was just curious. I like to know everything about everything.

It just wouldn't make sense to be able to put a rb20 bellhousing on a ka-transmission and have it work perfectly but not the sr20 transmission.
