So my 1997 Pathfinder is leaking oil quite badly from edges and even some screws on the valve cover.

Everything looks mostly normal pain to replace them but I have some questions.

For the rear bypass hoses everyone says is impossoble to get too, well once unbolted, couldn't the intake simply be lifted up in the front and tilted all the way to the hood and give underneath access to the hoses? Sure a few dozen bugee cords and maybe a pillow will be needed, but I have big clumsy hands and there certainly no way I could try to do anything from a rear approach.

Second question, what is the easiest way to get the EGR thingy out of the way? Again hands of uselessness with finess projects.

Third question, should I just go ahead and replace the IACV while it is apart.. 1997 with 180,000 miles.

Have you tried tightening the valve cover screws yet? They could be loose.

I'm taking my 2002 QX on Monday to fix the valve gasket leaks and a coolant drip at the crossover pipe. I'm not a mechanic so I can't specify what exactly needs to be done but from the estimate it is quite labor intensive. Dealership wanted $1250 but my local garage (that I trust more than the Infiniti dealer) is charging me around $930. I'll let ya know how it goes.

The estimate for valve cover gaskets on the OP's engine (VG33E) will almost certainly be different than yours on your VQ35DE engine.

Slumpert, I don't think you should replace the IACV. Unless it's malfunctioning, I would leave it be.
