hi im removing a ka24de engine, thew a rod. im replacing it with another ka and i have a couple of questions. yes i looked it up but no one has addressed this issue yet, well that i can find. is it possible to remove the engine with out removing the transmission first. explanation 1.support the transmission with a floor jack 2.un bolt it from the engine 3.connect the hoist to the engine 4.un bolt the mounts 5.pull the engine to the front of the car then lift it out. i don't know how far the transmission has to be pulled back when removing it first but with the rad. and extras out of the way it leaves about 1 foot a space between the engine front and the body. my problem is i don't have a garage or concrete surface [just asphalt] and i don't feel safe with the car jacked up on all fours as most of the repair manuals say to do. so i figured doing it the way i described might take more time but a lot safer seeing how im all by myself. could it be done???? . also where do you place the jacks on the rear end. i know where to jack it up at but for the life of me cant figure out where to put the jacks. im going off a chilton repair manual which covers a altima and 240 so most of the pics and info is in regards to the altima. well i was just wondering if it could be done that way. also is it easier to remove the transmission first or removing the engine and transmission in one unit if done by the manual. well if anyone has some opinions or knowledge that would be great, if not sorry to take up your time. yes i have looked it up and read up but no one has addressed this topic that i could find. thank you
