when i fill up my tank i usually can only fill up to 13 gallons. is that right??? i always start my odometer and from a full tank can get 230-240. does this sound right?? my friends coupe holds more gas i dont understand please help

Someone on here did put on the halo lights, you'd have to search for it though...it was a long time ago so make sure you look in the archives and not recent content.

If you're only filling 13 gallons, you aren't emptying your tank. Using 13 gallons of gas, 230-240 is right (18 mpg). Do you fill up when your gas light comes on? It usually comes on closer to about 5 gallons I do believe. What does your gauge read when you fill up? If you used all 20 gallons, you could get another 110-120 miles.

My light comes on usually 350 to 380 miles. A fillup usually takes around 16 gallons. The most mileage I've gone before filling up was 440 miles and a fillup took 18 gallons. Two gallons was still in the tank.

uh oh telcoman--i think i may have an anomaly to your claim of using 87 gasoline--i've gone about 465 miles on 91 with the same amount of gas

Hello smockers83

So how many gallons did it take to fill up?

I did read that fuel cools the fuel pump in the tank so I think the most mileage on a fillup for me was around 440.Whether using 91 or 87 octane makes a difference, who knows because of differences in temperature, humidity etc? I only know that after almost 50k miles all on 87 octane my G runs just fine. I do not race but love driving my G on the 100 mile round trip commute. I did notice this week that as temperatures rose from the 30's up to the mid 60's, my mileage may have improved somewhat. I note how many miles I've gone when the red needle of the fuel gauge is squarely on the 3/4 mark, 1/2, mark and 1/4 mark. Going considerably over 100, 200, & 300 miles at those points indicates better mileage. Also the mileage appears to improve from 1/2 tank down because of the reduced weight of fuel?I suppose an interesting experiment would be to fill the tank as soon as the fuel warning light comes on. Put in like 8 gallons to get to the 1/2 mark and drive till the fuel light comes on again. Repeat again! Do it a few times with 87 and a few times with 91 octane.I wonder it that would make a difference in MPG?Any volunteers?

But thanks for thinking of me

It was more of a friendly poke than a challenge, haha. Maybe when my car comes out in April I will be a volunteer.

It was like 18.2 gallons (it was 25.5 MPG over very close to 465 miles) back in August. But you're right about the 100, 200, 300 thing, every time I make that trip that I got the 25.5 I notice that I can get almost 125 miles per quarter tank while on the freeway.

Anywho, back to the real topic here. Sorry man! For payback, I'll look for the halo lights for you.

So here's the deal, people have talked about doing the halo lights, but no one on here has actually done it and said anything about it.

you know i usually always fill up with almost nothing in my tank. i swear that i can only put as much as 13 gallons. like today i had about a quarter left and i filled up. used 91almost everytime but if thats took expensive id go with 90.so it only took 10 gallons and the needle stops around the 3/4. i try to keep going but it wont add anymore. do you think somthing is wrong with my fuel line or something? what can i do.

ah, the infamous premature shutoff. This is somewhat common on Gs. When I first got mine I had this sort of problem and I figured out one day that if I pulled the nozzle out a little bit it would go. Now I don't have to do that and it works fine. You could take it in and they'll replace it for you if you still have your warranty.
