New member here guys.........

Not only am I a new member to this and many other forums, I am new to Import Cars. I used to fiddle some with some older model domestic cars. ('73 Caprice, '74 Lemans, '73 Lemans Sport) I have done some pretty extensive reading here lately on my car but still have tons of questions.......

Let me start with a quick run down of what I want......

Although I do want a standard shift, I will wait until I get my next 240. I have been eyeballin' another.... So, this one I would want to keep my AT. My desires are:

1) Power2) Handling3) Still retain a somewhat smooth ride.4) Look Good

Now, I have noticed some things that I will need to address soon with my engine. I have been pushing it pretty hard, and being a gift from my mother (she being the one owner), the bloody thing has probably never seen above 60-65. LOL Our previous car was a '84 50th Anniversry Edition Maxima!!!! When she traded it in it was in remarkable shape, and she wanted her "sports car" before she got too old. :D Anyway, the lil' bugger has finally been given to me...... and even though I am a bit older still love speed, and have always admired 240s and 300s. Back to the point, engine worries needing to be addressed:

* light ticking (sounds like it is coming from valves)* a small amount of coolant being leaked (this occurs from time to time not every day, I have tried to veiw the source of the drip, but it never drips enough to tell. Engine coolant never seems to lose level of coolant, but it must be..... and no water in the oil!!!! WHEW!!!)

My first concern is getting the car back tight. It has about 155k on it. This is my idea, any constructive critizism would be appreciated.

Engine Immediate:

A) Replace Water Pump (Assuming this is where the drip orginates)B) Replace Timing Chain & Gears / Remove Tension Guides (While doing WP)C) Remove Mechanical Fan / Replace Electric Fan w/ Better Fan

D) Tune - Up 1) DENSO Iridium Spark Plugs 2) NGK Wire Set 3) Bosch Distributor Car 4) Bosch Distributor Button 5) NTK Oxygen Sensor - OE Replacement 6) Oil Filter (& Oil of course) 7) Air Filter (Until I get Intake) 8) Fuel Filter

(If ticking is not eliminated, I will check Rocker/Rocker arms)

Engine Near

E) Install U/R Ultra Street Pulley Set (Same Time as Above Work, Might as well right???)F) Injen or AEM IntakeG) Greddy or HotShot HeadersG) Apex'i N-1 Dual Cat Back (Still good for when I go Turbo right???)

Again fellas any input will be listened to......... Thanks!!!

the light ticking is probably the timing chain. with that many miles it must be they tend to eat through the plastic timing chain guides. the ka24de enigne in ur car doesnt use rocker arms. the apexi n1 will work when u go turbo.
