Well here is my question, I have an SR20DET with full exhaust no cat, front mount, and a boost controller, the boost is set to about 10 punds with me spiking at 14.... but my question is that I get flames out of the exhaust at times (which usually mean a rich mixture) but I also here a popping sound occasionally (which mean lean) so I am left confused can anyone shed some light on this for me.

poping sound is backfiring because its rich, same thing as the flame scenario but with no flame. Im guessing this happens when you shift?

It's normal if it's during shifting, or when you let off the throttle.

It's not normal if it happens under acceleration, and that would typically be a misfiring situation due to a timing retardation (knock) or a sudden fuel spike (similar to rotaries when 2ndaries kick in).

check the gap on the plugs. when do the flames show up? wide open throttle, between gears, on on decel??
