I just went to see my car at the dealers, (need to fill papers, gona pick it up the 24th! ) I noticed that since I got a manual there isn't any Traction Control System (TCS) button, Only the VDC button in the middle (since I ordered this extra feature). I asked why there wasn't any TCS button, and the salesguy said that Since it's a manual there isn't any TCS avaiable. Can someone confirm this to be true? because if not, then someone's gona have hell to pay when I'm done with him

It has nothing to do with it being a manual. Its available on both. Your paying for the VDC option and it sounds like he's trying to pass it by you by telling you its only on there because you wanted a 6 speed. Its a $600 option as you know.

From a previous thread that I posted info on....

The 2.5S has neither option available. The 3.5SE comes standard with the Traction Control System (TCS)The 3.5SE has an available Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC). This is an a separate option. If you have this you can't have the TCS.

The TCS reduces engine power when it senses wheel slip. The VDC helps maintain oversteer and understeer in an unfortunate event.

so VDC is TCS but more advanced? at launch is reduces engine power if there is wheels slip and In cornering it does 4 wheel braking to keep the car on its intended path.

Oh now I get it. TCS only does the wheels spin reduction if I accelerate too much at launch or while cornering while the VDC does that and brakes individual wheels depending on the projected curve .

So I'm not getting less or something completely different by getting VDC, I'm getting a smarter TCS that does advanced intented path projection?

can someone confirm? cuz I'm confused

I don't know about that . If you look in the Nissan catalog one sees that the TCS is standard with the 3.5SE and the VDC is described as "part of VDC option". wouldn't that mean it is purchased as an independent option?

I think I found my answer:

Traction Control System (TCS)

•TCS is standard on Pathfinder Armada and optional on Titan.

•The traction control system reduces torque to the drive wheels by altering injector pulse and controlling the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) motor. If necessary, the brakes are also pulsed via the ABS control unit and hydraulic unit to reduce slipping.

–For injector pulse and ETC functions, the ECM receives wheel slip information from the ABS control unit through the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus.

TCS operates at all speeds and limits drive-wheel slip (wheel spin) under most conditions, improving driver control of the vehicle in slippery conditions as well as on dry surfaces if throttle is over-applied.

Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)with TCS and ABS

•The VDC system is standard on Pathfinder Armada. The system integrates ABS and TCS with additional cornering controls.

•The VDC control functions (integrated into the ABS control unit) monitor the input from steering wheel angle, vehicle speed, wheel speed, G-force and yaw rate.

•When vehicle stability is affected by road conditions or the need to make an emergency maneuver, the system helps to maintain optimum speed at each wheel.

•The system controls engine output by reducing fuel and throttle opening, and provides individual braking control for each wheel to reduce or prevent skidding.

VDC changes engine power and/or applies the brakes individually as necessary to help stabilize the vehicle in severe turning situations. VDC helps enhance performance in emergency avoidance maneuvers, helps improve vehicle directional stability, and helps provide improved control even on slippery road surfaces.

Note:VDC not available with locking rear differential.

So correct me If I'm wrong but since nissan has the same VDC for all it's cars, then I'm guessing that the VDC for the altima coupe incorporates TCS, so that's why when I get VDC I only have a VDC button, an not another TCS button next to it.

What do you guys think?

Yes its a separate option. The "VDC" option VDC has the TCS features and then some. Your not missing out on anything by having the VDC.
